What is Diabetes?

Welcome to Diabetes 101! This class is intended to help you better understand and care for your diabetes. Consider us your own personal educator. With information, interactive tools, fun and games, we'll help you get a leg up on your disease.

In this lesson, you'll find the answers to the following questions:

  • What is diabetes?
  • What are the signs of diabetes?
  • What are the types of diabetes?
  • What is a good blood sugar level?

If you or someone you love has diabetes, you probably know a lot about diabetes already. Good. That can only help you in this online course. But just in case, before we start overwhelming you with knowledge, we thought we'd give you a little quiz. Don't worry, if you know some, great. If not, that's what we're here for.

Assignment #1

Test your knowledge. Take our What Is Diabetes quiz to find out just how much you know about diabetes.

Congratulations! Regardless of how well you did on the quiz — and we're sure most of you did great, I mean, who really thought that diabetes was a funny hat — you have just taken a first step towards better care. Don't fret if you didn't score as high as you thought you would. The following first lesson will provide an overview of diabetes. With each successive lesson, we'll get more and more in depth about specific issues that pertain to understanding and caring for diabetes. And who knows, next time you try the quiz, you might just score a 10 out of 10.
